Meeting called to order at 10:20 by President Dave Cruz

II.         Approval of Minutes:

Review of the minutes from the meeting of May 8, 2008 hosted by Cal-Fire and recorded by Doug McCoun.

III.        Treasurer’s Report:

The monthly Treasurer’s Report was presented by Dan Gearhart on behalf of the bookkeeper Kathryn Pernet.

Treasurer’s Report was approved as presented.

IV.       Correspondence:

1.         Discussed a letter that President Cruz wrote to the Fire Chiefs concerning Wellness and Fitness.

            President Cruz also received a letter from Michelle Vaughan concerning Wellness and Fitness.

V.        Committee Reports:

A.        ICS:     No Report

B.        Wildland Committee:  The wildland school had 45 Engines, the school went well.  The wildland committee is having a debrief meeting next month and after the debrief meeting, the information will be passed onto the Wildland Committee.

C.        Fire Library:    Work still in progress, nothing to report this month.

            D.        Programs: 

                        Auto X:           No Report

                        PC -832:        Full class, good response.

                        S-212:            Full Class

                        S-244:           We have an outstanding Class invoice of $1,800.00 toF.M.C. (Fire Management Company) we will pay for
                                                the class.

            E.        Website:         Work in progress, nothing new to report at this                                                                 meeting.

            F.         State Fire Academy/MPC:              No report

VI.       Old Business

VII.      New Business:

            President Cruz brought forwarded a request to pay a surprise bill from Cal-Fire for $4,500.00.  The bill is for the off road Driver Training conducted at IONE.  Motion was made not to pay the bill. After discussion the final vote was 3 yes votes and 3 abstains. Motion carried.

VIII.     Good of the Order:

 

            1.         We discussed how many members did it take to reach a quorum.  Based on 32 members we decided that we needed 6
                        voting members for a quorum.  (This was later confirmed. A
 quorum is 15% of the members.  We have 39 members and
                        15% equals 5.85 members)

1.         Doug presented a request from Chief Orman from the Fire Chiefs Association.  The Fire Chiefs are requesting that the Training Officers sponsor a motivational speaker and or key note speaker to give a presentation at the Chiefs retreat in October. This forum would be open to the outside.  Estimated cost would be between $6,000.00 to $12,000.00.  This will be on next months agenda as an action item.
